A sunflower seed dropped by a bird ended up in my garden this spring… and I love them! Easy to grow– I think it was the first thing I ever started from seed, many years ago.

and they still make me smile:)

English Cottage Garden

Ranunculus in the english garden will brighten a rainy day in spring. They come in most colors of the rainbows and are easy to find in better nurseries. Best of all they will come back year after year if you save the corm and replant.

Pink Roses in the Cottage Garden

I love iceberg roses- and use them in design for most cottage gardens. They can go in a full sun and light shade garden and bloom all year long. They come in white, pink and burgandy in bush form and as a climber.

My heart melts when I see sugary pink and white begonias, trailing white bacopa mixed in a color bowl accented with mixed colors of lobelia!

Kangaroo Paws

This plant tickles my funny bone! I haven’t actually seen a real kangroo or their paw but I bet they look alot like this plant! Use this plant for lots of color in a low maintenace garden.

Sea Thrift

Sea Thrift: be water-wise with this plant.

There is nothing common about Sea Thrift. This beautifully evergreen grass-like perrennial makes a delicate statement in any sunny water-wise garden. Low maintenance and tolerant of even salty soils, this plant can stand up to the beach conditions.

It also looks great in a small rock garden such as the photo above. I even use the plant in small fairy gardens with stunning results. Give Sea Thrift a try in your garden, you will love it.
